Art is an important form of self-care and coping. I’ve always had difficulty vocalizing my emotions and finding ways to use speech to express myself to the world. Art is a creative way for me to pour out my emotions and a form of venting out the traumas of my life. My art hopes to communicate my story to the world and encourage CSA survivors to speak up about their experiences.
My work speaks to my own personal experiences and at first, the viewer will see a soft world of pastel colors and cute figures interacting in what appears to be a safe environment. However, upon closer inspection, there are clues to the horrors of abuse and the trauma it brings. Through my art, I want to spread awareness and advocate for those who survive mental illness due to their traumas.
