The Artist
Layla Joan Alvarado is a quirky Chicago-based illustrator and a graduate of the American Academy of Art. She has an intense passion for storytelling and mental health awareness. Her work is full of soft colors and streams of wonder. Despite her use of a soft pastel palette, her art has a very dark ominous undertone. Layla plans to use her passion for storytelling to create graphic novels and zines that will touch the hearts of her audience, just as the stories she read touched her’s as a child. She hopes to use her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Illustration to seek out a M.A in Art Therapy to help young adolescents in coping with trauma in a healthy, creative way.
